What is the Multicultural Conference?

 

The Multicultural Conference is an annual event that aims to:

    1.  Deliver educational activities to promote the understanding of diversity.

    2.  Equip participants with cultural competency skills needed to work in County of Los Angeles.

Plenary speakers, workshop sessions, exhibitors, and cultural performances are just a few of the ways the conference will meet its goals.

Who should attend the Multicultural Conference?

 

All employees of the County of Los Angeles and their community partners are welcome to attend.

Is the Multicultural Conference only for Department of Mental Health Employees?

 

No. The Multicultural Conference is open to everyone. All employees, departments and partners

of the County of Los Angeles are especially urged to attend. The Department of Mental Health has played an integral role in coordinating the conference. However, the planning committee members

are from all County of Los Angeles departments.

May I attend the conference on County time?

 

Yes. However, the final approval to attend is up to the sole discretion of your immediate supervisor.

How would attending the conference benefit me?

 

Attending the conference will benefit you by:

  1. Introducing you to key concepts and practical skills related to diversity, cultural competency,   and cultural sensitivity.

  2. Allowing you to network with County of Los Angeles employees outside of your own department who share similar learning needs and interests.

  3. Allowing you to network with external agencies that work closely with the County of Los Angeles.

  4. Possibly providing you with continuing education credits.
